Professional Lifting Slings for Load Handling
Rydam supplies professional lifting slings for workshops, construction, transport, plant handling and general lifting operations. Our range includes flexible duplex webbing slings and endless round slings in different lengths and working load limits from 1 to 12 tonnes.
Textile lifting slings provide a lightweight and flexible alternative to chain lifting equipment. Their soft construction can also help reduce the risk of marking finished or delicate surfaces when the correct sling and lifting method are used.
Duplex Webbing Lifting Slings
Our duplex webbing lifting slings feature a wide, flat load-bearing surface that helps distribute pressure across the load. Reinforced eye loops at each end make them suitable for a variety of controlled lifting configurations.
Flat webbing slings are available in multiple working load limits and effective working lengths, allowing you to select the appropriate sling for the weight, dimensions and shape of the load.
Endless Round Slings
Endless round slings contain load-bearing fibres protected by a durable outer sleeve. Their flexible endless construction makes them useful for lifting irregularly shaped loads and allows the contact area to be repositioned to help distribute wear.
Round lifting slings are compact, easy to handle and available in a range of capacities. Always use the identification label and marked working load limit when selecting a sling rather than relying on its colour alone.
Choosing the Correct Lifting Sling
Before choosing a lifting sling, consider the weight and shape of the load, the required sling length, the lifting configuration and the conditions in which the sling will be used. The working load limit can change according to the lifting arrangement and sling angle.
- Confirm the total weight of the load before lifting.
- Check the sling’s marked working load limit and effective working length.
- Consider the load shape, balance and lifting configuration.
- Use suitable protection around sharp or abrasive edges.
- Follow the product label and manufacturer’s instructions.
Standards, Inspection and Safe Use
Flat woven webbing slings and round slings are covered by separate parts of BS EN 1492: Part 1 covers flat woven webbing slings, while Part 2 covers round slings. Check the individual product specification and identification label to confirm the applicable standard, working load limit and safety factor.
Inspect every sling before use and remove it from service if you find cuts, damaged stitching, excessive abrasion, heat or chemical damage, or an unreadable identification label. Never exceed the marked working load limit or use a lifting sling for towing, pulling or shock-loaded recovery unless it has been specifically approved for that application.
