Carbon Steel Wire Rope Snatch Blocks (4t to 20t WLL)
Maximise your lifting potential with the Rydam Carbon Steel Wire Rope Snatch Block. Engineered for heavy duty industrial lifting, construction, and 4x4 recovery, these blocks are designed to effectively double your winch line pull or alter load direction under extreme tension.
Why Choose Rydam Snatch Blocks?
- Heavy Duty Carbon Steel Body: Forged for maximum durability in harsh environments, resisting impact and wear better than standard cast alternatives.
- 360° Swivel Hook Head: The integrated swivel head automatically self-aligns with the load centre. This is critical for preventing wire rope twisting (torque) and reducing side-loading stress on your rigging hardware.
- Secure Safety Catch: Featuring a heavy duty, spring-loaded safety latch that keeps your wire rope firmly seated in the sheave, even when the line goes slack.
- Versatile WLL Range: Available in capacities from 4 Tonne to 20 Tonne, suitable for everything from commercial vehicle recovery to complex industrial rigging.
How do I choose the correct WLL (Working Load Limit) for my snatch block?
Ideally, your snatch block should have a Working Load Limit (WLL) that is at least double the pulling capacity of your winch. Because a snatch block can double the pulling force on the anchor point (a 2:1 mechanical advantage), a 4-tonne winch could exert up to 8 tonnes of force on the block. Our range from 4t to 20t covers most industrial and recovery scenarios. Always check your wire rope diameter matches the sheave width.
Can I use Rydam Carbon Steel blocks with synthetic rope?
Yes. These blocks are compatible with both steel wire rope and synthetic winch lines. However, if you are switching from steel to synthetic, ensure the pulley sheave is smooth and free of burrs or sharp edges that could damage the synthetic fibers.
What is the advantage of the swivel hook design?
The 360° swivel hook allows the block to self-align with the load automatically. This is critical for stability; it prevents the wire rope from twisting (torque) and reduces dangerous side-loading pressure on the block housing, ensuring a safer lift or recovery.
Are these blocks suitable for overhead lifting?
Yes, our Carbon Steel Snatch Blocks are rated for industrial lifting and recovery. They feature a secure safety catch on the hook to prevent the line from slipping out during slack conditions. Always ensure your rigging setup complies with local lifting regulations.
